Center for Personal Protection and Safety

The Center for Personal Protection and Safety (CPPS) is an educational institution dedicated to researching and disseminating Best Practices in the area of Workplace Violence Prevention and Travel Safety. The Center for Personal Protection and Safety is composed of former U.S. Department of Defense and FBI officials, responsible for much of the US Government’s current teaching and training on crisis negotiations, workplace violence, abduction prevention, and hostage survival situations. It is the parent organization of the Safe Travel Institute (www.safe-travels.com) and National Hostage Survival Training Center.

The Center's leadership, Randy Spivey, Jim Sporleder, Eugene Rugala, and Steve Romano, are recognized leaders in personal safety issues; are in demand as speakers; and appear regularly in media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, New York Times, USA Today and Forbes Magazine. The Center for Personal Protection and Safety is a proud member of the following professional associations: Society for Human Resource Management (www.shrm.org); International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (www.iahss.org); Risk and Insurance Management Society (www.rims.org); University Risk Management and Insurance Association (www.urmia.org); International Association of College Law Enforcement Administrators (www.iaclea.org); and ASIS.

 

RANDY SPIVEY, Executive Director

Randy Spivey is internationally recognized as a leading expert in the field of Workplace Violence Prevention and Travel Safety. Since forming the Center for Personal Protection and Safety and Safe Travel Institute, Randy has personally trained over 10,000 individuals in Best Practices related to Workplace Violence Prevention and Travel Safety and has worked directly with many national-level media organizations to include: ABC World News Tonight, CNN, Fox News Live, MSNBC, Associated Press, History Channel, USA Today, and the New York Times.

During his tenure as a Department of Defense executive, Mr. Spivey managed and provided oversight to all Hostage Survival training programs in the Department of Defense from 1997 to 2002 and co-authored multiple hostage-related policy and doctrine documents.

Additionally, Mr. Spivey worked to identify and quantify the total Hostage Survival training requirement for the Department of Defense and subsequently developed a comprehensive plan to train over 1.4 million military personnel for this requirement. Mr. Spivey served on several multi-national panels related to survival training and represented the at a high-level workshop on how to modify current policies and associated training programs to ensure compatibility among our allies.

Currently, Randy consults with and trains individuals from many Fortune 500 corporations and over 350 colleges and universities across North America. Mr. Spivey has a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Relations from the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Human Resource Development from South Dakota State. http://www.cppssite.com/
