Retired Sheriff Raul Ramirez

Retired Sheriff Raul Ramirez's public safety career spans thirty-four years. He rose through the ranks to become the first member of the Marion County Sheriff's Office to be elected Sheriff. As Sheriff, he was elected to serve three 4-year terms. In 2006, Raul was recognized as Sheriff of the Year in Oregon. In 2007 he served as the President of the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association Board of Directors. He retired on September 1, 2007.

Retired Sheriff Ramirez's on-going commitment to community safety and security was exemplified by the creation of Oregon's first "Threat Assessment Team" in 1998. The role of the team is to protect public officials who have been targeted or threatened. In 2000, after the escalation in student violence and high profile school shootings, Student Threat Assessment was added to the team. Raul Ramirez’ Threat Assessment work was highlighted in 2000 by Time Magazine.

He has also been involved with the security review of the Oregon State Courts and the Oregon State Hospital. At his church, he served as usher and helped establish their Security and Safety team. As a security professional he is a member of ASIS.

As Co-Founder and President, Raul Ramirez now devotes all his time leading Church Security Solulions, LLC by bringing the latest in law enforcement, security and safety protocols to churches and other religious institutions.
