John holds a bachelors degree in business information systems and quantitative analysis from Portland State University. In 2002, John received his Master Degree in Applied Information Management from the University of Oregon.
John achieved the designation of Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) from ISC2 in 2007. ISC2 is a professional organization that is globally recognized as the Gold Standard for certifying information security professionals throughout their careers.
Since 1990, John has worked in the private sector as a Management Information Systems Administrator and as the Director of Information Technology at Oregon Episcopal School. In each of these roles John has worked diligently to assure that risks related to information security are mitigated using the principle of least privilege and industry best practices. As the Senior Information Security Analyst for a large public institution, John establishes policy, provides awareness training, assures compliance, and monitors network security.
